Pune: Two youths have been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, who was found dead at her house in Uruli Kanchan last week. Post-mortem report had revealed that she was five months pregnant.
The arrested accused have been identified as Prashant Nivruti Shelke (22) and Praveen Vilas Gadhve (23), both residents of Bagdevasti, Uruli Kanchan.
According to police, the girl was found dead in the bathroom of her house on Saturday. There were no injury marks on her body. She was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. After post-mortem, her viscera was preserved by the doctor. It was also revealed that she was five months pregnant, said PI Krantikumar Patil of Loni Kalbhor police station.
While investigating the case, a team led by API Shrikant Ingavle got information that the accused persons had sexually abused the girl. Accordingly, they were nabbed on Tuesday night. They have been charged for rape under the IPC and other relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
SP (Pune Rural) Sandip Patil has announced a reward of Rs 15,000 to the team which solved the case.
